***************************************** 10.) Swapping or removing sprites ***************************************** There are two lists in Keen 3 that define things about sprites. The first list defines what sprite number in a level spawn a particular sprite. A value of $0002 for example spawns the Vortikid. The best use of this list is to stop a sprite from spawning at all by chainging its value to something you won't see in-level, such as $00 $02. This is most sueful for easy-medium-hard patches where you don't want a sprite to spawn in a level on say easy. The next list is more versatile. To make something act TOTALLY like another sprite, just copy the value from one part of the list into another part. So to make all Vortikids spawn as Vorticon (Complete with being lethal, having the right death, etc.) change the second value in the list from $E9 $3A to $DF $3A This can be used to turn a harless sprite on easy mode to a lethal one on hard. A neat trick here is that Keen can start in a different place in a hard mode. If you use the repeat vorticon value (That nobody will miss!) and place both Keen and the repeat Vort in a level, you can make the R.V act like Keen on hard mode, so he spawns there instead of where he originally did! Or you can use it to create a totally different sprite, if you have the patch space. #The number for each sprite in-level %patch $3BD4 $01 $00 $02 $00 $03 $00 $04 $00 $05 $00 $06 $00 $07 $00 $08 $00 $09 $00 $0A $00 $0B $00 $0C $00 $0D $00 $0E $00 $0F $00 $10 $00 $11 $00 $12 $00 $FF $00 #Keen #What a sprite acts like: %patch $3BFA $DF $3A #Vorticon $E9 $3A #vortikid $F3 $3A #Vortimom $FD $3A #Meep $07 $3B #Vortninja $11 $3B #Foob $1B $3B #Ball $25 $3B #Jack $2F $3B #H plat $39 $3B #V plat $42 $3B #Vorticon (Repeat!) $4B $3B #Purple spark $54 $3B #Heart $5D $3B #Right shooter $66 $3B #Down shooter $6F $3B #Arm $78 $3B #Left foot $86 $3B #Right foot $94 $3B #Keen
